Actis is a global private equity firm focusing exclusively on emerging markets throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, who invested in an integrated mixed use development in Kenya (Nairobi), consisting of a mall, residential housing and commercial space.
Arc Skills mobilised and trained 300 youth in relevant artisan trades over a 12-month period consisting of 25 students per month. Students received world class training in a mobile training center on the live construction site through our TVET on Wheels solution.
Each month training was aligned with the construction timelines and skilled labour needs in a ‘just-in-time ’fashion. Students received internationally accredited certification from the Australian Vocational Training and Employment Group (AVTEG). Students were also listed in the Kenya National Construction Authority (NCA) database and the Kenya Federation of Master Builders database, enabling contractors to identify them in a search for skilled and certified artisans.
Funding: Corporate Social Investment from client
