Skills 21

Skills 21

Skills 21 is a research-backed gamified programme that immerses students in scenarios that require them to identify, develop, and practice a set of social, emotional, and behavioural competencies that in turn nurtures 21st Century Skills; including Communication, Self-management, Persistence, Creativity, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking.

Designed for students in grade 7 to 12 (12 to 17 years) the programme is run at the school and facilitated by the school's teachers who have received intensive training on 21st-century skills, mentorship, leading reflective discussions, the principals of immersive and gamified learning, and the Skills 21 platform.

Our success

The first inaugural Skills 21 school in 2016 was in Dubai with GEMS Modern Academy. The school is one of the longest standing institutions in the region with a well known excellent reputation awarded by the Government.

43 Grade 7 and 8 students experienced our immersive programme over a 12 week period, at the end of which awarded us a 90% student satisfaction rate and glowing feedback.

Student Feedback includes:

  • "It helped me to develop skills that I don’t think I would be able to do otherwise.”
  • "Before Skills 21, I had no idea I had these virtues within me.”
  • “I have become more mindful, sensitive, and aware of the people around me and how to work better as a team and with my peers.”

The teachers also praised the programming stating that they could transfer their new skills into their normal classes. Teachers with Students in the Skills 21 class stated: “I now have a more holistic understanding of my children and their capabilities”.
